Tour around Gangtok including Rumtek Monastery, Flower show, Institute of Tibetology, Tashiview Point, Chorten Stupa, Banjhakri Falls. Rumtek is one of the biggest monasteries in Sikkim, which was built in the year 1960 by His holiness 17th Karmapa who fled Tibet due to Chinese aggression. Flower Show houses large number of flower as well the ornamental plants of Sikkim. During the flowering season, exhibitions and competitions are held here. Sikkim has around 4000 species of flowering plants. Hanuman tok situated at hilltop has a Hanuman Mandir and during the clear weather Kanchendzonga range can be viewed at its best. Institute of Tibetology houses large number of Buddhist scriptures as well acts as museum. Tashiview point provides an excellent view of Mount Kanchendzonga and far-flung North Sikkim Villages. Telescopic view of mountains is available. Chorten stupa is situated near Tibetology. Banjhakri falls has statues of samanist/nature worshipper priest.
Babamandir and Nathula are situated in same circuit in high altitude area. Tsong is at 12400 feet, Babamandir app. At 13000feet and Nathula is at 14600 feet. Tsongo Lake is an alpine lake with lots of rainbow trout though it is a sacred lake of Sikkim. Visitors are not allowed to do boating and entering the lake. Baba mandir is situated much higher with a mandir established and maintained by 17th Mountain Brigade. Baba Harbajan a soldier who perished in a gushing river in 1960 later re surfaced to protect the border of Indo-China. Nathula pass is gateway to Tibet and before Chinese aggression this used to be only a silk route to Lhasa. Nathula to Lhasa is only 470 kms. Trade is being carried out between the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) and Local Sikkimese in the Indian side. Gangtok to Tsongo?Baba Mandir drive is one of the most interesting as it provides an altitudinal changes along with the vegetation changes. During winter the region is full of snow. Nathula is opened for visitors on the following days: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday,Saturday and Sunday.
Lachung is situated in around 8600feet with total tribal culture and is one of the remote area. Scenic beauty while traveling to Lachung is at its best with long cascading water falls. High mountain overlook Lachung Valley. Enroute we visit seven sister falls, bhim nala falls.
After breakfast visit Yumthang valley where there is a hot spring and the river runs through the middle of the valley. All around snow clad peak surround the valley.Before Yumthang, Singba Rhodendron Sanctuary shelter numerous species of Rhodendron which are in bloom during the spring time. Yumthang valley is covered by snow clad peaks. Further we visit Yumesamdong or locally knows as 0 point. It is located at 15000 feet. Snow is in abundance after the autumn season.Back to hotel for lunch.Drive to Gangtok

Khechuperi lake which is about 13km from Pelling is yet another sacred lake of Sikkim. It is believed that once you visit the Lake and wish in your mind will be fulfilled. The Lake is in the shape of a Buddha's foot and all around rich forest cover, guards the habitats. Lake provides shelter to large number of birds.

Foreigners must obtain Inner Line Permit (ILP) to visit Sikkim. These can be obtained from all Indian Missions, Sikkim Tourism Offices at New Delhi, Kolkata, District Magistrates Office of Darjeeling, Siliguri, and Rangpo on the strength of an Indian Visa. The 30 days duration Permit is issued on the spot without any delay provided photocopies of the passport and visa along with two pass port photos of the applicants are made available. The permissible duration of the stay for foreign tourists is 30 days initially.
The State Government is authorized to extend the same by a further period of 30 days. The extension of the permit can be obtained from FRO at Gangtok and office of Superintendent of Police of the North, West and South Districts.
For those interested in going for trekking in the interior region of the state, the Tourism and Civil Aviation issues Protected Area Permit (PAP) at Gangtok which is available for certain specified area for groups consisting of two or more foreigners subject to condition that the trekking programme is arranged through a registered travel agency.
